MCC Intermediate October camp / "My First Roast Dinner"

This past week, Joel and I were at the MCC Intermediate October camp (Monday - Thursday). This camp is held in Ballybunnion (sp?), the same location for the Easter camps. We had a great time! There were approx. 59 campers ages 12-15 years old. Joel was the speaker for this camp and he spoke about Peter getting out of the boat, and how we too need to get to Know Jesus, Trust Jesus, and Serve Jesus. The camp was alot of fun and the campers seemed to have a great time. We were very impressed with the overall atmosphere at the camp. Everyone seemed to be involved and included in every activity. We are already looking forward to the Easter camp in March!

For this camp, I helped with crafts again. During the summer we did scrapbooks, and this time we made cards. These campers are so creative! All I have to do is provide them with the paper, stamps, stickers, etc. and the cards they come up with are amazing! They seemed to really enjoy making cards for birthdays, anniversaries, engagements, thank yous, etc. I even came home with three "Congratulations on your baby bump!" cards :0) I definitely need to restock on materials for Easter - they seem eager to start on their next projects already :)

This is a very recent picture ... from earlier on this evening. This was my first "roast dinner", and my first victims, oops, I mean "guests" were Gordon and Ruth Smyth (Carolyn's parents) and of course ... Joel :0) I even made a chicken dinner last night for our friends John and Lydia. I'm not sure what I was thinking ... Joel may have big expectations for me now ... and to think I was getting so good at soup & grilled cheese, frozen pizza, pastas, and of course ... toast!!

Hmm . . . your "first roast beef dinner". Good on you Christine . . . I am sure it was delicious. In talking to the Cook at the "home" . . . she is from England and I told her about how you described the roast as a "joint", she laughed . . . said that is how they refer to their beef, but it doesn't tell you the "cut", ie. sirloin tip, prime rib, pot roast, etc. Not knowing that makes it difficult to know how to cook the "joint". She also said that beef from the UK is not the same as Canadian beef . . . somewhat tougher. When we come over I will better understand. It sounds, however, that no one "beefed" about your roast beef!! And they were indeed, dining in a nice "joint"

Love you both,

Mom, Herself and I

Glad camp was great! And that the craft classes go so well! Isn't it great to be surrounded by creative people?
