In August, Amma & Granpa arrived in Cork!
It was their first time meeting Caitlin in person.
Emma was beyond excited to have them here! She immediately latched on to Granpa with "Granpa ... ur wanna push me on the swings??"
"Granpa ... ur wanna do some colouring with me?
And when Granpa was "busy" ... "Amma, ur wanna play with me now?"
Don't worry, we let Amma & Granpa out of the house ... and took them to Fota Wildlife Park :)
Caitlin seemed to enjoy it too!
Did you know that Ireland had the Olympics this summer as well as London? My parents even had front row seats!
To the "Cycling" event ... "Canada vs. Ireland" ... sometimes Ireland got gold and sometimes Canada did ;-)
Yes, they even saw sunshine ... this was one of the handful of days that we actually had "summer" weather in August ... this was one of the wettest Augusts in Ireland on record!
Yup, blue sky in Kinsale by the chipper! Yummy fish & chip picnic!
At home, the children sat around the table and practiced their fishing!
On the 17th of August, these two adults escaped for a night away to celebrate their 10 year anniversary. Don't worry, everyone seemed to have survived when we returned the next day!
One of the rare days that month that the girls got to enjoy the back garden.
Caitlin was a big fan of her new swing from Amma & Granpa though!
In keeping with the weather, we decided to have a family "Christmas in August" ... on the 24th and 25th of course.
And then it was back to hanging out with Granpa ...
We then went on a 3 day adventure to Dublin ...
to Mr. Tayto Land!
And yes, the sunshine was there that day ... periodically ... between showers ...
Thankfully there were teepees nearby to wait out the rain.
And Emma's dream came true ... a ride on a real pony! (named "Chester")
Caitlin also enjoyed the day ... and a snooze in the car on the way back to the hotel :-)
