As mentioned in previous posts, all of our "stuff" from Canada arrived in April. I think we have everything mostly unpacked now. The only things that broke were a couple of plates, bowls, etc. All in all, we were pleasantly surprised at how well all of our things traveled (and the fact that it all arrived here with nothing "lost" along the way). Great packing Francis :)
Anyway, one of the things we were excited about unpacking was our "Settlers of Catan" game! No one here had heard of it or played it. As you can see from the picture above, we are slowly trying to change that :) We invited a couple of friends from the youth group to dinner and then taught them how to play. We were soundly beaten by John, and Lydia says he is anxious to come and play again. He really wants to try "Cities and Knights" next.
Now, I must tell you (those of you who play the game may be able to relate) that we were so anxious to play ... that before we taught John & Lydia (and we have now taught our teammates Lee & Joanne as well), Joel and I were playing it together by ourselves. How? We set up the board for four players and we eached played for two players and rotated chairs between turns ... Praise the Lord for John & Lydia, Lee & Joanne ... we now have real people to play against :) We have friends, John & Jennifer, coming over from Canada in a couple of weeks to visit us and they are seasoned pros at "Settlers". I have a feeling there will be much competition while they visit.
