A "walk" really = a "climb!"

A couple of weeks ago, Sharon and Jenny invited us to go for a "walk" with them in Kerry. Little did we know ... a "walk" really meant a "climb" up the third largest mountain in Ireland: Caher. Sharon assured us that the view would be worth all of our efforts ... unfortunately, there was no view to be seen due to cloud cover, and fairly dense fog :(
We had a great time "adventuring" with them. Joel's heels however, took awhile to recover from the experience. Fortunately, there was a special sale on men's sandals at Aldi (a local store similar to a much smaller version of Save On Foods in Canada?) and he was able to get a pair of "flip-flops" to wear for the weeks following our "ramble".
Those of you who remember our trips to Mt. Robson and Mt. Fitzwilliam will have an idea of what our experience "climbing" was like. Picture that, only picture me as SLOWER, more OUT of shape, and SLOWER ... did I mention how SLOWLY I climbed? (*groan) Jenny and Sharon are definately my heroes! They go for "walks" regularly and are planning to "walk" in America this summer. I told them there is a difference in North America to Ireland that I have found ... here, there are only sheep to see you as you stop for lunch; in North America, you can stop climbing and BECOME lunch!! Sadly, Sharon and Jenny seem to think I was trying to "feed" them to the bears when I told them to carry bells and make lots of noise when they go climbing :)

I can't believe you guys live in such a beautiful part of the world! I'm so jealous :o) I had to write a comment because your first picture looks like a spot where we had a picnic with Bryce and Carolyn. Am I right?

Feeling your pain,
