"Macedonian Project" (Peillonnex, France)

Okay, I said I would catch up on the blog ... so here goes. From August 5th - 25th, Joel and I, Lee & Joanne, and Daniel & Clodagh (from the church in Ballincollig) travelled to France to attend the "Macedonian Project", a three week conference about "Church planting in Europe". Our church here in Douglas sent Lee & Joanne and ourselves to the conference and two years ago they sent two other couples as well. The conference was fantastic! Despite the fact we had classes all day during the week, (I'll try to post some pictures from Joel's computer of that ... think Joel sitting in class for three entire weeks ... with a nametag ... do you think he was "Joel Carlaw - Ireland" by week three??? Not!) we managed to do some "touring" on the two Saturdays we had off. The first Saturday we went to Annecy (long story, and not pictured above). The second Saturday we went to Chamonix and took the cable car up to the top of Mount Blanc. Yikes! They pack you into that thing like sardines! Going up, scary because you go really slowly on the steep parts ... but going down - oh boy! Here is the story ...
We were packed (again) into the cable car and Joel was in front of me facing forward. As we passed the first tower the car sped up and zipped down for a few seconds and gave you that "I'm gonna die!" feeling. So, I had my arm on his shoulder and as we went past the tower I grabbed the only other part of him I could find at a seconds' notice ... his bum! At the bottom, after kissing the ground, Joel informed me that at the exact instant I grabbed him, the lady in front of him reached back and grabbed his leg because she had nothing else to hold on to. Ahh yes, always an adventure with Joel and Christine. Aren't you glad you were blissfully unaware of the places we went at the time Mom??? (I mentioned you while we were going up Mom, I believe my exact words were "My mom would kill me if she knew what we were doing right now! - I know how much you love heights and how you "never worry" - ha ha).
